January Events:
A Month of Medical Marvels
documented by Jordyn Giles | written by Bryttani Bernard

January was Medical Month, and our young learners had a fantastic time diving into the world of healthcare! We explored different medical professions, from veterinarians to EMTs, and learned about the essential tools doctors use. The children even created their own doctor kits, complete with stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, bandages, and even their own name tags as official medical professionals.

Each week, we focused on a new healthcare profession, learning about the important roles these individuals play in keeping people healthy. Our students were especially fascinated by the work of emergency medical responders and surgeons, and they eagerly took on their roles during our Friday hospital dramatic play sessions. The classroom transformed into a mini medical center where students took turns being doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and even patients in need of care.
Celebrating Doctor King

In addition to our medical studies, we also honored Martin Luther King Jr. by learning about his powerful fight for freedom and justice. The children engaged in meaningful discussions about the obstacles African Americans faced during his time and how his legacy continues to inspire change today. We read books about MLK, listened to his speeches, and created beautiful art projects reflecting his dream for equality. The students even wrote their own "I Have a Dream" statements, sharing their hopes for a kinder, more just world.
February Events:
Honoring Activists & Sharing the Love
documented by Jordyn Giles | written by Bryttani Bernard

Black History Month took center stage in February as we explored the impact of African American activists. Our students built their own definition of what an activist is and learned how advocacy can take many forms—through speeches, music, and marches. We studied inspiring figures like Ruby Bridges and Bessie Coleman, who made history through their bravery and determination.

One of the highlights of the month was our visit from Ms. Vicki, who taught us about the rich history of African drums. The beats and rhythms filled our room with energy and excitement, and our students had the chance to play the drums themselves, learning about how music has been used as a powerful form of storytelling and protest throughout history. It was a hands-on experience that made history come alive!
Of course, we couldn’t let February pass without a little love! Valentine’s Day was a blast as we played Valentine’s-themed bingo, crafted heartfelt projects, and celebrated the friendships that make our classroom so special. Students exchanged handmade cards filled with kind messages, and we ended the day with a sweet treat and a fun dance party! It was a beautiful reminder of the importance of kindness, love, and friendship.
Celebrating Our January & February Birthdays!
Birthdays are always special at TCC, and we love celebrating our students on their big day! In January, we cheered for Amy, who turned another year older on January 12th. We made sure to make her day extra special with birthday songs, decorations, and a fun classroom celebration. She got to wear the special birthday crown, and everyone enjoyed a delightful treat in her honor!

Although no students, staff, or TCC family members had birthdays in February, we would like to wish a happy birthday to all those with February birthdays all across the world! , laughter, and of course, cake! We can’t wait to celebrate many more birthdays in the coming months.
Birthdays at TCC are always a joyous time, and we are grateful to celebrate another year of growth and happiness with our students. We hope your birthdays were as wonderful as you are!
