🏕️Camping Adventures with Ms. D🏕️

Around the World and Into the Wild!

March was Camping Month, and with the help of our fantastic Los Medanos College mentee Ms. Diana, we took an exciting journey without ever leaving our classrooms!

Each week, Ms. Diana brought the spirit of camping to life with lessons on how different cultures experience the great outdoors. The children learned how Australians enjoy camping in the Outback with wildlife like kangaroos, how Japanese families set up glamping-style tents in beautiful forests, how Native Americans camped using tipis and natural tools, and how American families roast marshmallows and sleep under the stars. The kids were fascinated to learn that camping looks different around the world—and they were full of questions!

Ms. Diana also guided the students through making their own camping brochures, complete with drawings, stickers, and information about what they would pack and where they’d go. Their imaginations ran wild! Later in the month, the children created miniature camp scenes using a variety of art materials: pom pom balls became campfires, pipe cleaners turned into trees and tents, and markers helped bring every detail to life.

And to top it off, we explored the animals you might encounter while camping, from bears and raccoons to owls and insects. It was an adventurous month of learning, imagination, and hands-on fun!

🌿 Spring Break Field Trips 🌿

Nature, Animals & Discovery!

Spring break gave us the perfect chance to get out and explore the world around us—and our students were thrilled!

Contra Loma nature hike
Contra Loma nature hike

Our first big adventure was a nature hike at Contra Loma, where we turned into little explorers for the day. The trail was peaceful and full of life! We saw birds, squirrels, and all sorts of bugs. But the most exciting (and slightly spooky) moment? Hearing the sound of a rattlesnake from a distance! Don’t worry—our teachers and staff made sure everyone stayed safe and learned how to respect nature from afar. The children asked tons of questions about animal habitats, and we loved seeing them so curious and engaged.

Next, we headed to Lindsay Wildlife Museum, where the kids got an up-close look at some of California’s most fascinating animals. From the tiniest worker bees to the majestic bald eagle (with wings wider than our arms!), there was something new around every corner. The children especially loved pretending to fly like birds in the outdoor play area and were mesmerized by the sight of a porcupine nibbling on a snack.

It was a beautiful, sunny day, and the kids couldn’t stop talking about everything they saw. These field trips reminded us just how powerful outdoor learning can be—and how much we grow by exploring the world together!

🎂 Dr. Seuss Birthday Week 🎂

Rhymes, Reading, and Green Eggs Galore!

March wouldn’t be complete without celebrating one of the most beloved authors of all time—Dr. Seuss! His birthday gave us the perfect opportunity to dive into a world of rhymes, riddles, and imagination.

Throughout the week, each class read a different Dr. Seuss classic—from “The Cat in the Hat” to “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” The children giggled through tongue-twisters, talked about the silly characters, and even made their own Seuss-inspired drawings. The colorful, creative stories sparked so many conversations and inspired the children to explore reading with joy and curiosity.

The big highlight came on Friday, when Mrs. Melissa surprised the morning class with a very Seussical snack: Green Eggs and Ham! At first, the kids were skeptical—but then came the brave bites and surprised smiles. “It tastes like real eggs!” one student exclaimed. It was a perfect blend of fun and food. And just when they thought the celebration was over, Mrs. Stacie handed out Dr. Seuss goodie bags filled with themed treats, bookmarks, and stickers. The entire week reminded us how magical books can be—and how a little rhyming fun can go a long way!

🍀 St. Patrick's Day 🍀

A Taste of Irish Luck

TCC turned into a sea of green for our St. Patrick’s Day celebration, and it was a day full of food, fun, and festive traditions!

From the moment the kids walked in, they were greeted with green decorations, rainbows, shamrocks, and tiny leprechaun footprints mysteriously scattered around the room. We talked about the meaning of St. Patrick’s Day, Irish traditions, and the legendary pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Lunchtime was extra special. The children got to enjoy a delicious, cozy bowl of Irish stew filled with vegetables and tender meat. It was the perfect way to warm up after a morning full of dancing and crafts. But the favorite dish by far? Our fun-shaped green clover pasta! The kids were amazed that pasta could come in such festive shapes—and they gobbled it up with big smiles. Whether they were making rainbow crafts or searching for "leprechaun treasures," the day was filled with charm and cheer!

🎉 March Birthday Shoutouts🎉

March brought us two very special reasons to celebrate, and our hearts (and bellies!) were full of joy.

Happy Birthday to all our Jan. & Feb. babies

We started the month with a birthday bash for Ms. Jordyn on March 3rd! Her classroom was decked out with balloons, handmade cards from the children, and lots of hugs. The kids loved singing the birthday song as loud as they could, and Ms. Jordyn even got a birthday crown made of glitter and smiles. She brings such warmth and creativity to our center every day, and we were thrilled to shower her with the love she so deserves!

Later in the month, on March 19th, we turned up the fun again to celebrate the always-energetic Mr. Caleb! His birthday was filled with laughter, silly games, and a surprise dance party that had everyone on their feet. Mr. Caleb’s kindness, patience, and fun-loving personality make him a favorite among the kids—and we made sure he felt the birthday love all day long. Cheers to two amazing team members who make TCC feel like home!

Student of the Month

Congratulations to Michael Sharma!!

Every once in a while, a student shines so brightly that you can’t help but take notice—and this month, that student is Michael Sharma!

Michael is the kind of friend who brings people together. With his contagious laughter, warm smile, and kind words, he brightens every room he enters. He’s the first to lend a helping hand, whether it’s picking up toys, comforting a classmate, or helping a friend find their backpack. His teachers often say that Michael leads by example, and it’s true—his gentle leadership and big heart make a lasting impression on everyone at TCC.

Academically, Michael is always eager to learn. He asks thoughtful questions, participates enthusiastically, and shows a genuine curiosity about the world. Socially, he’s a joy to be around. Whether he's telling a silly joke or inviting someone new to play, Michael creates a sense of belonging for others. We’re proud to honor him as our Student of the Month, and we know he’ll continue to inspire his classmates with his joyful spirit and positive attitude.
